The main issues that are on
President Trump’s agenda are bringing jobs back to America, protecting and
securing our borders, and repealing Obamacare. Bringing jobs back to America was
the main platform President Trump ran on. His campaign slogan is “Make America
Great Again”, so that should tell you something. Almost every time he publicly spoke
during the campaign season he always talked about bringing jobs back to
America. The way we protect our borders in Trump’s mind is the most
controversial issue during his whole political campaign. He constantly talked
about building a wall along the Mexico border and enacting a Muslim ban that
would deny citizens from certain Muslim majority nations from entering our
country. These proposals have caused a huge rift between the Democratic party
and the Republican party. It has even split the Republican party in half. Repealing
Obamacare has been Trump’s biggest failure so far. Even though the Republicans
hold a majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate they were unable
to compromise on an alternative healthcare plan. The Healthcare repeal wasn’t even
voted on. Between this failure and the harsh news coverage he is receiving his
image as the “master of the deal” and an effective president is deteriorating.
The main issues that are on the top
of Jeb Bush’s agenda includes immigration and education. Bush and Trumps agenda
are similar in that immigration is a main priority. Their ideas of what the
country should do concerning immigration is what separates them. Bush for a
conservative is very liberal when it comes to immigration. He believes we
should pave a pathway for immigrants to become permeant U.S. citizens. He believes
we should find an effective way to help them find a better life in our country.
He understands that this country was built by immigrants and how vocal they are
to our society. They are similar in their ideas for education. They both believe
that every school should incorporate common core into their curriculum. Personally,
I think common core is a horrible idea and we need to get rid of it.
The media is mostly covering the
issue of immigration in a comedic way. Trump has handled the issue of
immigration in a horrible way, while in the process offending the majority of
the world. He has now proposed 2 immigration bans that have been struck down as
unconstitutional by a federal judge. By far, the media is setting the agenda.
The media has continuingly maintained coverage on immigration, while exposing his
ideas and policies as stupid. Trump is very focused on how the media portrays
him, so every time there is something negative written about him, you know
there will be a response. People have to remember this is Trump’s first term,
so the way he handles himself these first four years will determine if he will
get a second term. Trump’s image has taken hit after hit through his campaign and
into his first 100 days in the White House.

I immediately laughed at the Jeb Bush photo. He is so photogenic! He had similar agenda's with Immigration and education compared to Trump. I do believe that Jeb is actually a politician, which Trump lacks, so he knows/knew what would be most important in America at this time. I agree with you that it is comical the way the media shapes some of these policies. I haven't seen one good thing from the media about Trump since, well.... EVER!
ReplyDeleteI really liked your comparison between Trump and Jeb Bush. I think it is really interesting to look at Trump's agenda vs a member of the Republican establishment. I actually had no idea that Trump was for common core, especially with his appointment of Betsy DeVos. I completely agree that it is the media who is setting the agenda however I would say Trump tries to set it more than normal politicians.
ReplyDeleteHad it not been for Trump, Jeb Bush would have been the front runner and maybe the Republican nominee. He had over $100 Million in super PAC money and is in a major establishment political family. I like the fact that you compared Trumps agenda to Jeb's, as opposed to compared Hillary to Trump. The reason why Jeb has a weak immigration view may be due to the fact his wife was a Mexican immigrant. When you factor love and family into political issues, often you go with what your heart tells you, as opposed to believing what your Political Party thinks.
